Assisted Living at MAHOVA in Richmond VA

Assisted Living is available for residents who need assistance, to varying degrees, in performing daily tasks. In general, an applicant’s assessed level of care must be Assisted Level I by The Virginia Department of Social Services or lower in order to qualify. MAHOVA is not allowed to admit residents who require significant levels of care due to license restrictions. However, once you live at our home, memory support and nursing care are available for our residents.

What is Assisted Living?

Assisted living facilities (ALFs) are non-medical residential settings that provide or coordinate personal and health care services, 24-hour supervision, and assistance for the care of four or more adults who are aged, infirm or disabled.

MAHOVA provides programs of care that:

  1. Meet the resident’s physical, mental, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs
  2. Promote the resident’s highest level of functioning
  3. Provide protection, guidance, and supervision
  4. Promote a sense of security, self-worth, and independence
  5. Promote the resident’s involvement with appropriate programs and community resources based on the resident’s needs and interests

Assisted Living


Just the right amount of assistance to live as self-sufficiently as possible.

Magnolia Court provides the additional assistance that you or your loved one needs, such as assistance with medication administration, bathing, and dressing in a smaller, more intimate setting. A nurse or Registered Medication Aide (RMA) is staffed on the unit 24 hours a day to provide resident assistance as needed. Magnolia Court has a dedicated dining room on the unit that provides a unique person centered dining experience. Magnolia Court has a dedicated full time Activities Coordinator and offers many fun programs available daily.


Richard E. Brown (REB) Memory Support Unit

Our Memory Support unit was specifically designed for older adults who have a primary diagnosis of Dementia and a need for a secured environment as identified by a primary care physician. REB features well above average staffing ratios, including nursing staff to assist your love ones with 24 hour care. The memory unit has a dedicated Activities Coordinator providing various types of unique and resident centered activities. All daily activities are resident centered and designed to improve the physical, spiritual and mental health of the resident.
