Another Successful Outing

August 18, 2017

We want to express our sincere gratitude to all of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers who made this year’s Stan Johnson Golf Tournament a success. In total, almost 100 people were involved in making this year’s event special, showing once again what a force for good Freemasonry is.

This year, we thank RW John Dester for his efforts in putting on this event, and we especially want to remember RW Bruce Lupton who passed away before last year’s Tournament while planning it. He loved Masonry and he loved the Home.

Every year we have a number of golfers come play. More often than not, the weather cooperates and we fill the course with golfers who prove that supporting the Home isn’t all work and no play. For the first time in the 10 years we have organized this event, we had two ladies from the Home play! The Home is where you come to live, and sometimes that means you need to sneak 18 holes in at Lexington Country Club with your Masonic Family.

The Stan Johnson was developed as a fundraiser for the Home 10 years ago. It takes months of planning and a lot of coordination to make it work. If you couldn’t attend, there are many ways of helping the Home that don’t require as much coordination or planning. One idea for an event is a special meal out. In fact, many restaurants will help with fundraisers – just ask the Brethren down in Lynchburg. If you have an idea for an event, let us know and we’ll be happy to help make it a success.

The most important thing you can do, though, is spread the word of the Masonic Home.

Thank you to everyone who came out or supported this year’s event. We hope to see you again next year!
